Update : 2024 Gibsons Puzzles!
As an update to my Top Ten 2023, I have included my current favourites for 2024 below!
A Year in Great Britain
The latest in the series by Val Goldfinch. A slight departure from the 'alphabet', but a good idea as it has allowed Val much more freedom (finding something that started with 'z' was always a problem!)
Puzzle Festival
As you know, Tony Ryan is one of my favourite artists.
His latest puzzle features one of my favourite puzzle memories too - a jigsaw puzzle festival!
See my feature on Jigsaw puzzle festivals here.
Merry Midwives
This reminds me of the 'Call the Midwife' puzzles. I spent a whole weekend watching the brilliant first & second series on a DVD! I'm proud to say that I even designed both the puzzle and the packaging, sadly it is no longer available!
Portsmouth Flypast
What an amazing piece of art by Matthew Emeny! Possibly the most detailed puzzle painting I have ever seen. Great support for 'Help the Heroes'.
Read & see more on Matthew's website.

10. Moving Day
Gibsons Jigsaw puzzle
by Steve Crisp
Steve Crisp is one of Gibsons’ most popular artists, and I like this one because it is a bit different. Not your typical moving day, and the kids on the sofa surely aren’t helping!
Do you know who the guy is with the red coat?
I’ll tell you at the end of the page if you haven’t figured it out yet.
You can see more art from Steve Crisp here.
It is available from the Gibsons shop here.

8. Wings over Windsor
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Matthew Emeny
Mathew Emery is a fantastic artist, and he has painted a Lancaster and two Spitfires from the ‘Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’ flying over Windsor Castle.
I love the effort Matthew puts into the background for the puzzler. Who likes empty blue sky & green grass! See more about the

Seaside Souvenirs
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Tony Ryan
Tony Ryan is an absolute classic Gibsons artist. He always combines the most incredible, colourful detail with a personal touch of nostalgia.
This one brings back happy memories of me on Brighton Pier trying to win a soft toy at the Racing Dolphins stall!

6. Catastrophe Cottage
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Kate Mawdsley
So pleased to see this one, as it is the first developed by Demi at Gibsons. It is also the first by the artist Kate Mawdley, who I had the pleasure of meeting at various art fairs.
The same family of cats take over four rooms in the cottage, and it’s fascinating to see what different antics each cat gets up to in each room. Look out for the hidden puns and the poor dogs looking through the window.

5. Treats that Built Britain
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Robert Opie
Robert Opie’s puzzles are very different from the traditional painted Gibsons
This is a real nostalgic treat of old chocolate bars and sweet wrappers. Some, like Crunchie, are very different, but others, such as Kit Kat still very similar today.

4. Hetty’s Hats
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Linda Jane Smith
Linda is a legend of Gibsons puzzles.
Every year, her colours get brighter, there’s more detail and, dare I say it, her puns get funnier!
Her cats, of course, still have their unique faces. My favourites are the married couple with a mouse on top of the groom’s hat.

3. Verity’s Vintage Shop
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Janice Daughters
What a wonderful lady the artist Janice Daughters is! I had the absolute pleasure of meeting her at the Spring Fair in Birmingham, and she has now become one of Gibsons best selling artists.
Her latest painting is a real treasure trove of nostalgia, colour and detail.

School Days
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Trevor Mitchell
Trevor started with Gibsons in 2004 and his legendary series of Four Puzzles in a Box began in 2005.
His latest set takes us back to our school days. The cheerful lollipop lady, the school play (memories of my first and last stage performance as Humpty Dumpty) and our favourite playground games, including marbles!
It was fun chatting with Trevor about the joys of having those small milk bottles at school – and who was the quickest to drink them! As always, Trevor catches those precious moments from our childhoods and brings them to life.

Fancy Dress Fun
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle

I love that Debbie comes up with her own unique ideas of what she wants to paint for a jigsaw
It absolutely shows in her work, and you can see the real joy on the children’s faces.

Exploring Europe
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Maria Rabinky
Maria’s maps are full of detail & colour. This one follows her previous paintings of London, Britain and the World – in the same style and amount of incredible detail.
Look out for Santa Claus!

Honourable mention No.3
Birdsong by the Stream
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Greg Giordano
Greg is a fantastic painter, and although he paints everything from tractors to snowmen, his bird puzzles have always been very popular.
Some of Greg’s puzzles have been in the Gibsons range for years because they were too popular to stop making!

Corners of the World
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Hebe Studio
Rhi James is a new artist to Gibsons, currently living in Australia!
There are four 500 piece puzzles, including the magical Rainbow Mountain in Peru & Australia’s iconic Dove Lake.
The new box looks really fresh & modern too. I especially like the colour!

Jungle Dream
Gibsons jigsaw puzzle
by Catalina Estrada
Catalina is from Columbia, now based in Barcelona and is ‘passionate about colours’ – which we can clearly see in her first Gibsons
Definitely one for those puzzlers up for a challenge with its symmetrical design.
