They descend from the Wichienmaat cats, who were popular with royalty and monks, dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1351 to 1767 AD).
In the late 19th century, they made their way to Britain and the United States.
Born pure white, they develop their striking color patterns as they grow up and a gene that responds to temperature.
Areas of the body that are cooler become darker, leading to their famous ears & face.
Siamese cats also carry a gene which makes them more vocal and social!
